Yesterday (26 April) Rockstar stealth dropped a new patch for Grand Theft Auto V for all players on current gen systems. However, only those playing on the newest generation of consoles have received a brand new feature.
The patch notes for update 1.56 cover a whole range of your usual optimisations and bug fixes. Players on all consoles have received fixes for certain crashes, weapons and vehicles disappearing, and problems migrating certain characters. However, there is also a separate list of fixes for players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, compared to those on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Players on the older consoles will see some much needed fixes to the game. An issue with progress in GTA Online not saving has now been fixed, alongside other minor issues such as button prompts which were absent in Director Mode. Softlocks where the game fails to load have also been addressed, and the failure of certain phone calls to trigger has also been fixed.

However, it seems it’s players who are on the latest generation that will be receiving the most benefits from the update. These include fast loading screens and transitions, adjustments to PS5’s adaptive triggers, and parachute missions disappearing from the job list.
The feature players are most excited about is an addition to the settings. Motion Blur can now be adjusted, not only off or on, but as a slider to decide the strength of the blurring. The setting can be found in the menu under Settings > Display > Motion Blur Strength. On the right of this is the slider which you can adjust.
The update has already been released and users can choose to install it by accessing the game via their consoles.
