While The Last of Us’ TV adaptation has been taking the world by storm, it sounds like Amazon’s God of War is shaping up to be just as good.
As we all know, respecting the source material is what sets the Halo adaptations of the world apart from the likes of The Last of Us. This is hopefully a lesson that directors will remember well when it comes to creating other movies and TV series based on other beloved games - in the past, it’s unfortunately been something which has gone by the wayside far too often.
Take a look at the trailer for The Last of Us below.
Reassuringly, the team working on the God of War show don’t seem to be making this same mistake. Amazon Studios' head of television, Vernon Sanders, previously stated that the adaptation will be “both incredibly true to the source material, and also compelling on its own”.

The president of Sony Pictures Television Studios, Katherine Pope, has now promised the same thing. Speaking to Deadline, she confirmed that the TV adaptation is “in the early stages”, and will, by the sounds of it, be a great watch both for existing fans and those totally new to the franchise.
“I know the game pretty well, and I’m so impressed with what they’re already doing in terms of building out that world and expanding, keeping all the values of the game but also expanding it so that if you don’t know the game, it’s still going to be a really satisfying show on its own,” she said.
At the time of writing, no one has been officially cast in the series, but Christopher Judge has made it very clear that he wants to reprise his role as Kratos, and there’s no doubt that fans would love to see that happen.
