After what feels like an eternity of waiting, God of War Ragnarök was finally released into the world last week. I’m sure, like me, you spent all weekend devouring as much of the game as possible. That being said, don’t worry. You won’t find any spoilers here - I’m avoiding them too. One thing I think we can all agree on is that God of War Ragnarök is definitely a Game of the Year contender.
To celebrate the release of Santa Monica Studio’s latest title, PlayStation are offering users a free gift and we’ve got the details on how you can grab this for yourself. It’s no secret that God of War Ragnarök introduces a number of iconic Norse characters previously only mentioned by name in 2018’s God of War. One of those is Thor and the character is proving to be immensely popular.
Take a look at this hilarious line that was cut from 2018's God of War.
Players meet Thor very early on in the game which again, is no surprise if you saw God of War’s ‘secret ending’ revealing his imminent arrival. The character is portrayed by actor Ryan Hurst who you may know from The Walking Dead. Hurst portrayed Beta who, if you ask me, is one the series’ strongest villains. Fans are very much enjoying his portrayal of Thor. In fact, they prefer Hurst’s Thor to Chris Hemsworth’s.

This may be stating the obvious but Hemsworth is, of course, known for portraying Thor in the MCU. In later appearances, the MCU’s Thor is a pretty humorous guy. Ragnarök’s Thor is much more threatening in comparison. As reported by GamesRadar, fans are sharing their thoughts over on Twitter but this meme pretty much sums things up.
TheAgentOfDoom wrote, “God of War Thor is the best Thor in all media,” while CS11_ added, “I might be overreacting but Thor’s introduction in God of War Ragnarök is one of the best things I’ve ever experienced in media. I’ve literally had to put that game down for 10 minutes to recover from that.” It is very good - very good indeed.
