Christopher Walken has just been cast as Emperor Shaddam in the upcoming Dune sequel and fans are losing it over the choice.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Walken will star alongside returning actors from the cast such as Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet. The sequel, aptly named Dune: Part 2, carries on from where the first film left off with Chalamet’s character Paul Atreides, trying to free the desert planet of Arrakis from Harkonnen rule.
A 4X game based on Dune recently came out. Check out the trailer in the video below.
Fans have been loving the casting choice and were quick to take to the internet and share the love. The comparisons haven’t stopped between what they think Walken will look like in the new Dune, and his iconic appearances in other films.

One Reddit user thinks he will look like his flamboyant character from 2007 zany comedy Balls Of Fury.
A lot of people have been Dunifying his iconic monologue from Pulp Fiction, where Walken talks about a smuggled pocket watch. There were many different takes involving signet rings, or spice, but my personal favourite is this one, because well ya know, it’s a whole planet.
Funnily enough, one of the roles Walken is best known for isn’t from a film at all. The 79-year-old actor took our breath away as he grooved and indeed flew around to Fatboy Slim’s Weapon Of Choice. While we’ve all lived in fear of being swallowed whole by a sandworm since watching Dune, we know Walken won’t have an issue. “Walk without rhythm, it won't, attract, the worm”
If we weren't excited for the sequel to Dune before we certainly are now. Christopher Walken is such a legendary actor he's perfect for the multiple Academy Award winning film. We’re expecting big things, and we know Mr Walken won’t let us down.
