The creative teams working on Star Wars have been put in the position to recast a fan-favourite after the sad passing of actor Ray Stevenson.

Stevenson appeared as the villainous Baylan Skoll in the TV show Ahsoka, however, the Star Wars actor died shortly before the debut of season one.

Of course, this untimely passing caused many to wonder what would happen to the character of Skoll, as he was such a prominent part of the show.

In fact, the finale ended with Skoll journeying to hunt down the Mortis statues along with Ahsoka and Sabine Wren.

It appears that the creative team has found a suitable star to step in and take the role forward.

According to insider Jeff Sneider, Game of Thrones actor, Rory McCann will be entering the galaxy far, far away.

The actor is perhaps best known for his performance as The Hound in the HBO show, but also starred in the comedy Hot Fuzz.

Sneider said in his social media post on the news, “I’m told they’ll be joined by Stevenson’s friend, Scottish actor Rory McCann, who will inherit the role of Baylan Skoll with the blessing of Stevenson’s widow.”

Production on season two of Ahsoka is set to begin in April, with no current date of debut on Disney+.

Stevenson was, in my eyes, the best part of the TV show, and it was devastating to hear of his death.

He was a talented actor whose presence in the show was undeniable, creating a menacing aura whenever he stepped into the scene.

The talents of McCann are apparent, and he will likely bring something new to the role, to deviate slightly from Stevenson’s portrayal.

It’s likely that fans will be eager to see McCann play the villain, knowing how grisly and dark his turn at The Hound was.
