If you’ve been living under a rock lately, you may not have heard of the new live-action Fallout series from Amazon Studios which has taken the video game community by storm.
It should come as no surprise that the Fallout series from Amazon Studios has been popular amongst its loyal fans as well as those unfamiliar with the Bethesda franchise. However, what may come as a surprise, is the quality of the product after being cursed with video game adaptations for so many years.

At the time of writing, the Fallout show has been met with rave reviews from critics and fans alike garnering scores of 94% and 88%, respectively, on Rotten Tomatoes. One of the main reasons the Fallout show is proving to be a success with a variety of fans is that it not only remains faithful to its source material but its story throws in surprises to keep even veteran fans on their toes.
In fact, it was recently revealed that the Fallout show is so faithful, that Bethesda head honcho Todd Howard had to change some of its plot as it was a bit too close to the nose of the upcoming Fallout 5. For that reason, it makes sense that the Amazon Studios production can be seen as canon to the video game series.
However, despite being one of the most cherished games in the video game series, some believed that 2010’s Fallout: New Vegas might not be canon and instead, its own standalone story. I’m going to be vague with the information that’s to follow to avoid major spoilers but some fans believe that the Amazon show contradicts some of the events in Fallout: New Vegas resulting in those believing the Obsidian Entertainment title is non-canon.
Yet, when speaking to IGN, Todd Howard has confirmed that Fallout: New Vegas is canon to the mainline Fallout series. “There might be a little bit of confusion in some places, but everything that happened in the previous games, including New Vegas, happened.”
