The Fallout franchise is experiencing something of a renaissance right now. It’s just a damned shame that the very-far-away Fallout 5 cannot capitalize on this success.
If you haven’t yet started watching Prime Video’s adaptation of Fallout, you really should. It’s excellent and accessible to seasoned fans and newcomers alike.
It’s Prime Video’s second most-watched TV debut ever, sitting behind The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power with the streamer confirming that the series had secured 65 million views during its first two weeks of availability.

It’s no surprise then to hear that Bethesda has welcomed in a 5 million player surge across all Fallout games. It’s Fallout 4 that’s drawn the most attention, particularly given that it’s just launched its new-gen update.
If you’re playing on PC, the update has broken many of Fallout 4’s most crucial mods. If you’re on console though, you should benefit from a nice boosted experience.
It goes without saying though that we’re all desperately waiting for Fallout 5, a game that remains many, many years away.
Take a look at our interview with the cast of Prime Video’s Fallout below.
Bethesda is hard at work supporting Starfield with post-launch content but beyond that, The Elder Scrolls VI is the next game in line for release.

It’s not assumed that TESVI will launch any time soon, possibly being upwards of five years away.
That means that Fallout 5 could potentially be a decade away from release, if we’re being realistic and allowing it sufficient development time following on from TESVI.
A new rumour suggests though that another Fallout game might be in the works, an idea that’s possibly come to fruition due to the franchise’s recent success.
Industry insider Jez Corden touched on the topic in the latest episode of the Xbox Two podcast (via GameRanx): “They are currently formulating plans on how to get the next Fallout, here for us, sooner rather than later. Which I know is vague as hell, but we can’t seem (to stop) talking about, will we see Fallout this decade?”

Jez then went on to say that Starfield’s Creation Engine 2 should speed up development, adding that the creation of another Fallout game could be passed to another studio: “That’s what they’re talking about right now.”
Obviously, we’d all love to see Obsidian return to the Fallout franchise but there’s no word on who Bethesda might team up with, if this rumour is even true.
As always, do take this unconfirmed tidbit with an enormous pinch of salt. Still, it does indeed make sense for Bethesda to want to capitalise on this current moment.
