Later this week, Elden Ring turns one year old, and it just hit a major sales milestone.
There was no escaping Elden Ring last year - FromSoftware’s ginormous open-world action RPG launched to an onslaught of 10/10 reviews, and that was reflected in its success later in the year when it got to awards season. No one could argue that it wasn’t deserving of the accolades, though - it might be controller-smashingly difficult at times (most of the time, in fact), but it’s absolutely brilliant, as the latest sales figures have proved.
Take a look at some of the most chaotic mods in Elden Ring below.
Publisher Bandai Namco has now confirmed that over 20 million copies of Elden Ring have been sold worldwide, which is absolutely huge. That accounts for digital and physical sales on all platforms.

Six months after release, the game had reached 16.6 million sales, so although the pace has (understandably) slowed down since then, it’s still continuing to grow steadily. For reference, FromSoftware’s previous best-seller was Dark Souls 3, which had racked up 10 million sales by May 2020 (four years after it released). It’s also worth keeping in mind that excluding Elden Ring, the total combined sales of the entire Dark Souls franchise is 27 million, so it’s getting closer and closer to overtaking the lot.
We’re still yet to hear anything about DLC for Elden Ring - fans have been expecting it to be announced, well, ever since the game launched. Signs have been pointing towards it happening for a while now, and it’s been announced that a one-year anniversary event is taking place on 25 February in Sweden. This will be live-streamed on Twitch, and many are hopeful that we might finally see the expansion of our dreams.
It's just a few more days to go until we find out, anyway. Watch this space.
