FromSoftware just dropped the 1.13.2 update for Elden Ring and its expansion Shadow of the Erdtree, and unfortunately it’s removed one unintentional feature players had been having a lot of fun exploiting.
As announced on the Bandai Namco blog, the new update went live on all systems last night. Most of the content in the update is solely focused on tackling bugs that were introduced alongside the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
One fix specifically targeted a certain enemy that had been giving players a lot of grief. The Red Bear enemy has had the “power of some attacks used by the NPC” nerfed, as supposedly the enemy was one-shotting almost everyone once they went beyond New Game+ 2.

Another bug fix has slightly confused the community, mostly because they weren’t really sure what exactly said bug fix was supposed to have changed.
As the patch notes describe it, “a bug in which the amount of status increase” for certain Spirit Ash summons was changed as they were “different than expected”.
This is probably due to a translation issue on the side of Bandai Namco, as one player on the Elden Ring subreddit figured out the damage output of the Spirit Summons in question had been altered and not their “status increase”.
The bug fix that previously “allowed Cooperative multiplayer in some areas of Scadu Altus with no area bosses present” has made some players a little upset however, as it’s gotten rid of an unintended but fun exploit.

Before update 1.13.2, players could roam around certain areas in Scadu Altus in co-op even if the boss of said area had been defeated.
This allowed players to experience co-op in one specific area in Elden Ring with no restrictions, which a lot of folks were having fun messing around with.
It was probably for the best this feature got removed however, as one commenter clarified.
“This was definitely the summon area right before the golden hippo at Shadow Keep…” they explained, “On more than one occasion, I would get summoned in for co-op in this area, but the host had already killed the boss. You were basically trapped in the boss arena because the doors on either side have a fog wall.”

Here’s hoping FromSoftware has seen how much fun players on consoles had taking advantage of this exploit for future updates though. Would be nice to have an official version of the Seamless Co-op mod in the game at some point.
