A very happy Dead Space remake day to all who celebrate. Who’s ready for a full weekend of precisely no sleep?
Almost 15 years after the original’s release, Dead Space (2023) is upon us - a remake which even the game’s technical director, David Robillard, said is “too f***ing scary” to play at night with headphones on. In her review, GAMINGbible’s Imogen gave the title an eight out of 10, praising the “appallingly pleasing” visuals and huge pool of terrifying in-game events “to orchestrate the fear.” It’s safe to say this definitely isn’t a game for the faint-hearted, and to be honest, even the thought of playing it sets me on edge.
Take a look at the chilling trailer for Dead Space (2023) below.
Assuming you are in the market for nightmare fuel, it’s an exciting time to be alive. On top of the release of the remake, legendary film director John Carpenter recently implied that a Dead Space movie could be in development (albeit, not directed by him). Not only that, as GameSpot reports, an Easter egg found in the remake seems to hint that the second game might be getting remade, too, if not the whole trilogy. Be warned that the Easter egg contains spoilers for the plot of the first game, so proceed with caution if you’re not already familiar with it.

In Dead Space (2023), when players start a New Game Plus file, a few extra text logs will be available to read which aren’t visible on a first playthrough. The logs show an exchange between two characters chatting about looking for new work, when they bring up possibly working at the Sprawl on Titan. As veteran fans of the series will know, this is the central location of Dead Space 2, where Isaac goes after escaping from the USG Ishimura.
Obviously, this could just be a nice nod to the second game in the series, but its inclusion in the remake could mean something more. Nothing has been officially confirmed by EA at this time, however.
