Dark Souls fans can experience the first game in an entirely new way thanks to a brand-new expansion mod, seriously this isn’t one to miss.
Playing Dark Souls alone is a remarkable experience, as Lordran is a very cold, bleak place and it’s easy to get lost in the atmosphere as you learn more about the world and your place in it.
It’s probably my favourite game of all time, and I’d love to see it get a remake one day
Those first couple of hours can be very daunting until you bump into Solaire, a charming sun-bro who teaches you the importance of jolly cooperation.

Now it’s easier to partake in jolly cooperation than ever before thanks to the Seamless Co-op mod by Yui.
As the name implies it gives the first Dark Souls game the same type of co-op that Elden Ring has, meaning when you’re helping out your friend in their world or vice-versa you won’t have to mess around with summons again every time you die, you’ll just be there with them every step of the way.
You could argue this makes the game too easy but who cares as long as you’re having fun, Solaire certainly doesn’t.
The mod allows you to play with five other players, and it even takes out the fogwalls that's usually presenting your co-op partner from following you into certain areas.

It’s not perfect, as the creator has noted it’s not a bug-free experience just yet but it’s certainly getting there.
If Dark Souls ever gets a remake, perhaps in the style of Demon Souls for the PlayStation 5, it’d be nice to see a feature like seamless co-op integrated as an official feature, but again maybe that’d take too much of the challenge out.
Either way this is an impressive mod for an impressive game, and if you primarily play on PC it’s worth checking out.
