Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has hit an ‘all-time low’ following its latest update and fans feel they are being neglected in favour of Warzone 2.
Season one for the multiplayer modes of Modern Warfare 2 was relatively packed. However, that is perhaps only fair to say for the free-to-play, Warzone 2 battle royale. Sadly, the same cannot be said for MW2s more traditional multiplayer offerings.
Take, for example, season one for the traditional multiplayer of MW2 which featured just two new maps, a Raid mode, a co-op mission as well as a CoD League Mosh Pit.

This is in comparison to season one of the first MW which includes three new MP maps, as well as two 2v2 maps, various modes, a co-op mission, a new Ground War map, and more. In fact, it seems the traditional multiplayer for MW would offer on average three maps per season.
However, as reported by Dexerto, the Warzone mode, in particular, its sequel continues to flourish with a generous wealth of added new content that puts the traditional multiplayer to shame, and fans are feeling annoyed by the negligence.
Call of Duty fan website, CharlieIntel tweeted some added gloom for fans hoping that Modern Warfare 2 would finally flourish with content for the upcoming season two.
“Yes, we need more Multiplayer maps and content. But studios working on resurgence maps are not also working on MP content. Also if you expect more than 2 6v6 maps in Season 02, just don't.”
Twitter user luisramirez193 replied what many Call of Duty fans were thinking: “Why would multiplayer cost $70 if it will have much less content than the free BR? Come on, just put the F2P multiplayer and fill it with the microtransactions, in the end, the second is almost true.”
What’s more, Twitter user xpertfusion3 mentioned the fact that the likes of Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War was very generous with content, not only with battle royale but traditional multiplayer.
Sadly, this is not the first time that fans have accused Activision of ignoring Modern Warfare 2 in favour of Warzone 2. Back in January 2023, fans claimed that Activision no longer cares about traditional multiplayer.

In related news, following further fan backlash, developers Infinity Ward made a u-turn and decided not to entirely wipe player progress in the additional Warzone 2 mode, DMZ. Season two of Warzone 2 was initially set to launch on 1st February. However, season two suffered a small delay pushing it back to 15th February.
