Assassin’s Creed Shadows is out this month after several delays and a lot of backlash, and you can preinstall it right now.
Ubisoft’s next Assassin’s Creed game has had a difficult journey as its dual protagonists were slated by those who prefer historical accuracy in their games, essentially forcing the studio to add a “canon” story mode that removes the option to make decisions about the plot.

Adding to that the gameplay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows was critiqued extensively when the first few snippets were shared, presumably promoting the delay to this year rather than the originally planned 2024 release date.

Anyway that’s all a thing of the past now as the game is out on 20 March, with pre-installs available now to those who’ve preordered the game.
Be warned though as the file size is enormous, clocking in at 108 GB likely due to the size of the open-world, though not surprising for an Assassin’s Creed game.
That said many haven’t preordered the game and don’t think they will before the game comes out, like one individual who commented on a Reddit thread about the game saying: “I'll buy a month of Ubisoft+and play the game there. Much cheaper in case it's a flop.”
That’s right, the correct subscription to Ubisoft+ will let you play the game at no additional cost, so if you don’t think you’ll enjoy it you don’t have to shell out for the standalone game if you don’t want to.

The previews have been pretty good so far though, including our own which suggests it could be the Assassin’s Creed game we’ve been dreaming of, very exciting.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will launch on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC later this month on 20 March, after a long wait we hope it’s worth it.
