Set during the Golden Age of Piracy between 1715 to 1722, starring Edward Kenway with a swashbuckling amount of charisma not seen since the legendary Ezio Auditore, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag lets you explore the open seas like no video game had done before.

Being a passionate fan of the Ubisoft series, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is arguably my favourite entry, so much so that I’ve spent countless hours finishing the game on multiplayer platforms. So when I hear of my fellow fans calling for a remake, I’m with totally them.
In fact, rumours were making the rounds back in July 2023 that Ubisoft is currently working on an Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag remake built from the ground up with fans hoping that its sea shanties are left well alone. Whether those rumours prove to be true, only time will tell.
In celebration of its 10th anniversary, Ubisoft thanked fans. “Today, we're celebrating the 10th anniversary of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag!” it tweeted. “Over 34 million pirates have embarked on this unforgettable adventure through the Caribbean. Thank you for taking this journey with us! What is your favourite memory from the game?”

In response to the tweet, fans pleaded with Ubisoft to give us the remake that we crave. “Remake Black Flag up to modern standards with more features, it'd give us an incentive to pick it up and explore things even more,” asked 19Icardi05. “Seeing how successful this game was should make you see that this is the kind of game that people want to play. After Assassin’s Creed RED and HEXE, it's worth thinking about imo.”

The thread was also full of fans pleading for a modern remaster or even just a 4K/60fps update on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Whether Ubisoft responds to pleas for a new-gen update remains to be seen, but you never know. That is unless, of course, Ubisoft is remaking the game in which case, a new-gen remaster or update may be unlikely.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is available now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo.
