The Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag remake might be closer to becoming a reality than you think.
Rumours aren't to be trusted, this we know.
Nonetheless, while we’ve not always believed them to be real, speculation that an Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag remake is already in development has piqued our interest.

Easily one of the best instalments of the Ubisoft franchise, it makes sense that so many gamers are pumped up about its return.
If the hype was already said to be high, this latest teaser has it spiralling out of control.
The gameplay may have aged poorly, but our love for Assassin's Creed: Black Flag will never die.
An exclusive from Insider Gaming reports that they’ve seen gameplay from the enhanced version of the game.

Nowhere in the article does Insider Gaming mention a specific release date, though given the delays to AC: Shadows, the lack of an estimated release window is unsurprising.
But the AC fandom isn’t one to let the small matter of no launch date stand in the way of their excitement.
“Noice,” commented bigpapijugg. “I tried to play it the other day and it felt pretty dated.”
Yes, sad though it is to admit, the years haven’t been kind to Black Flag’s gameplay, gameplay which some argue was “long in the tooth” when it first released.

I’m not the only one who’s still reeling from trying to follow that one NPC during a specific chase sequence that will forever haunt me.
It’s not the only difficult in-game moment, but it’s definitely one of the most frustrating.
And yet, we adore Black Flag.
To be able to explore its beautiful visuals once again will be a joy, even if the gameplay isn’t (though we pray Ubisoft irons out the kinks).

We can endure the jank if we must, but a “ground-up remake" that rectifies the issues of the past is what we’re holding out for.
Let’s hope we can wait that long to be surprised or disappointed, assuming the remake goes ahead after the missteps with Shadows.
If the rumours are true, the wait won't be quite as agonising as we first thought.
