Many consider Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag to be one of the best games in the franchise and plenty of fans would love to see it return.
Whether that’s via a direct sequel or a remake, fans seem divided as both have great possibilities.
Assassin's Creed Shadows is still the next title for Ubisoft now coming out in 2025.

“After the piracy thing, he went back to London and retired from it. A second part there would be great,” says smit009 in a conversation on Reddit.
A sequel following events from the original game would provide an interesting angle for Ubisoft to explore, however, the consensus seems that most would prefer a remake.
“A remake would be an instant buy with me. Loved the setting and I don't how many hours I spent just sailing from island to island listening to the shanties,” said Alafian.
There is always a concern that when a company remakes a game, they change too many aspects of the original, so while a remake appeals, some suggest a remaster would be more appropriate.

Another Redditor comments on this idea: “If Ubisoft made a remake of Black Flag, it would probably be made more like the recent entries in the franchise, like with boss battles against sea monsters created from pieces of Eden. A Black Flag remaster would be great though.”
Does Ubisoft need to revisit some of the earlier games with new technology? Given the drama surrounding their recent games, it could win fans over.
“I'd totally be down for either, honestly,” said one fan before laying out a long reply into why Ubisoft should revisit the game.
The next instalment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise is the long-troubled Assassin’s Creed Shadows which has been delayed to 2025.
