We’re just one day away from the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania which should be a pretty pivotal moment for the MCU. After a rather meandering phase four, Quantumania is set to introduce Kang who is the overall big bad of The Multiverse Saga which comprises phases four, five, and six.
I think we can all agree that the absence of such a threat in phase four was palpable. The good news is, we’re starting to see the MCU’s bigger picture again. The bad news is that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is one of the worst-rated films in the entirety of the MCU. The superhero flick has scored just 50 on Metacritic. Many praised Jonathan Majors’ performance as Kang but found the film’s tone to be polarising. There is one character though that fans just can’t stop laughing at.
Take a look at the trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania below.
Quantumania officially introduces MODOK to the MCU. If you don’t know who MODOK is, the villain started life as technician George Tarleton. Tarleton was involved in mutagenic medical experimentation and while these tests succeeded in increasing his intelligence, they also gave him a rather large noggin. Tarleton was provided with a hoverchair to move around in and after vowing to kill his creators, MODOK was born.
Advert
The character did get an animated series back in 2021 but it was later cancelled and isn’t officially a part of the MCU. Warning: We’re about to delve into spoiler territory. The latest version of MODOK is portrayed by actor Corey Stoll. Familiar with the name? Stoll played Darren Cross/Yellowjacket in the first Ant-Man film and it’s Cross who becomes MODOK in this version of the story.
The thing is, MODOK looks like a cross between Humpty Dumpty and the villain from The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl. Take a look at some meme reactions below.
Admittedly, this is simply how MODOK looks in the comic books so it is a pretty accurate depiction and yet, viewers aren’t impressed. We’ll withhold judgement.
