The Nintendo Switch has been a runaway success since its launch in 2017 with its genius blend of handheld and home console capabilities. It’s got a stellar range of games too, from The Legend of Zelda to Pokemon and Super Mario, alongside other modern classics like Hollow Knight and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Right now you can bag one for yourself at a huge discount at Very. For just £269, down from £308, you can pick up a neon Switch console complete with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Switch Sports, an ankle strap for the football component of the latter, and a 12-month subscription to Nintendo Switch Online.

The online membership will unlock another 48 tracks on Mario Kart, doubling the number available in the base game. Mario Kart 8 originally launched on the Wii U in 2014, but its Deluxe edition complete with the additional Switch Online tracks remains an incredible party racing game 10 years later.
Switch Sports is a fantastic party game too, featuring a broad range of sports from tennis to chambara and bowling. It’s easy to pick up and play, meaning everyone can get involved and have a good chance of winning. You don’t need to play the football game with the ankle strap, but it considerably increases the immersiveness if you do decide to use it. Just be sure to play with a lot of open space around you!
At Amazon, the Nintendo Switch console has a 4.7 out of 5 average rating from 600 customer reviews. “Bought this for someone special and they absolutely love it,” said a five-star review. “When linked to the TV the graphics are fabulous. There are a lot of games to choose from and while this is definitely expensive it is a terrific piece of kit.”
“It’s a great console with lovely graphics and good games,” said another review awarding top marks. “To have the option of playing on the TV as well as a handheld device is a brilliant. Thoroughly recommend.” A third said: “Absolutely love my Switch. I have a gaming PC, a Steam Deck and a PS4, but it's the Switch I use the most.”

The petite form factor doesn’t suit everyone, unfortunately. “As a man with sizable hands, buying a Nintendo Switch was a gaming nightmare,” said one disappointed customer. “The ergonomic design left much to be desired, and using this device caused nothing but discomfort.” Others have noted that the games can be expensive for them: “It’s not a bad console but the games are over-priced.”
If a more powerful console appeals, the PS5 Slim is currently available for £414.99 at Game. Alternatively, the Xbox Series X is available at Currys for £460.
But for a console, two fantastic games, an online subscription, and the versatility of both handheld and at-home gaming, the Nintendo Switch bundle at Very is easy to recommend.
