Hogwarts Legacy gamers surprised with free download they can claim in September

Wake me up when September ends

Hogwarts Legacy players everywhere are being surprised with a free download which they can claim in September.

Unless you've been living under a rock you'll know that Hogwarts Legacy is one of the most popular single-player games of the last few years.

The Harry Potter RPG has proven to be a massive hit in spite of its creator's harmful views. A recently released summer update has also been largely well received, though fans certainly have their issues with it.

One of the big things fans have all agreed is missing from Hogwarts Legacy is, of course, Quidditch. The popular wizarding sport was conspicuously absent when the game launched last year, and it soon became clear why: a dedicated Quidditch game is launching in September.

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will launch on all platforms, including Nintendo Switch, on 3 September. It'll also be a day-one free release for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

As an added bonus, Quidditch Champions has confirmed that anyone who owns a copy of Hogwarts Legacy and picks up the new game will be treated to a free DLC pack.

The Legacy Pack is described as an "exclusive gift" in Quidditch Champions for Hogwarts Legacy players. It includes a handful of cosmetics, plus a skin and wand based on fan-favourite character Sebastian Sallow.

To claim the Legacy Pack, you'll need to own a copy of Hogwarts Legacy and connect it to your Warner Bros. Games account. Simplicity itself.

It'll certainly be interesting to see just how well Quidditch Champions performs. I've no doubt some kind of multiplayer Quidditch would have been a huge hit as a bonus mode in Hogwarts Legacy, but as a standalone game? Well, let's wait and see.
