Grand Theft Auto VI is the most highly anticipated video game in years, but yet, we know practically next to nothing about it.
Developer Rockstar Games announced that it was working on GTA VI back in February 2022, but since that time fans have not been provided any form of official update. We don't have a GTA VI release date, we’ve not seen any trailers and we do not know what story it will tell.
Check out our GTA VI news round-up video below!
All of the above is why we’ve had to make do with those infamous gameplay leaks as well as an endless stream of rumours and speculation. If the rumours are to be believed, GTA VI will take us back to the iconic location of Vice City and it will feature two playable characters named Jason and Lucia said to be inspired by the historic crime duo, Bonnie and Clyde.

More recently, a report claimed that an updated RAGE Engine which was used to power Red Dead Redemption 2 will provide GTA VI with unreal physics and dynamic weather effects. Sure, RDR2 was released in 2018, but it’s still a stunning game and if that engine is enhanced for GTA VI, then we totally expect the next entry in this series to blow us away.
That being said, as I mentioned earlier, other than those gameplay leaks, which were taken from an early build of the game, we don't know what the final version of GTA VI will look like. However, a gameplay video from Red Dead Redemption 2 was shared on TikTok that might give us a glimpse of how good GTA VI might look.
Firstly, we must ignore the fact that a DeLorean, the car featured in the Back to the Future series, is driving around in the Wild West. Well, that actually happened in Back to the Future Part III, but you get my drift. I suppose this weird collaboration makes the use of the Stranger Things theme music more suitable.

DeLorean aside, this will be the same engine that powered Red Dead Redemption 2, but it will likely look even better in GTA VI. I mean, just look at those landscapes and lighting effects. If RDR2 can look this good in a last-gen game, imagine how good it will look in a game developed exclusively for next-gen.
I know, this isn't the ideal scenario to give us an inclination to how GTA VI will look, but until Rockstar Games gives us something to chew on, then we’ll just have to make do with DeLorean’s driving around in the Wild West. Now if you excuse me, I’m off to watch the Back to the Future series.
Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to be released for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S sometime between 2024 and 2025.
