If you remember Cyberpunk 2077 as being a lightning rod for criticism back in 2020, rest assured that times have changed. Developer CD Projekt Red worked tirelessly to correct the issues with bugs, limited gameplay, and performance, and in 2024 it’s now one of the best games on the market.
Right now, you can jump into Night City at a bargain price with the Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition available for £37.69 down from £57.99 on PS5, or for £38.99 down from £64.99 on Xbox Series X.

The Ultimate Edition includes both the base game and its expansion, Phantom Liberty, which adds a new district to the city and a storyline featuring Idris Elba as a careworn detective you can partner up with. In the main game, and in the expansion, you’re accompanied by Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand, a cyber-armed ghost who regularly gives his two cents on the game's events and your actions.
While you explore Night City you’ll complete various missions complete with exceptional writing, motion-captured performances, and intense, visceral action. The gunplay is combined with hacking options and the ability to enhance your character’s body with cybernetic augmentations, giving you the option to double jump, draw swords out of your arms, slow down time, and much more.
On Amazon, the Ultimate Edition has a 4.6 out of 5 rating from 357 customers, highlighting the change in fortunes the game has had since its initial launch. “With such a fantastic experience this time around, I can’t help but hope for a sequel!” said a five-star review. “Cyberpunk 2077 has truly redeemed itself for me, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for an exhilarating gaming adventure.”
“Should you play this game? Absolutely yes,” said another five-star review. “We shouldn't forget the state it launched in, but we also can't ignore the strides that have been made. This is a polished, thrilling and massive game. I have sunk over 130 hours into my playthrough, and have not yet completed it.”

Another added: “I am only about 35% in this game and I am enjoying every second of it, it is brilliant! The graphics are outstanding and the gameplay is smooth. I heard there was bugs in this game when it was first released, but so far I have had no problems.”
Some players have reported encountering lingering bugs that have damaged their experience, however. “The world is great and I thoroughly looked forward to playing all of it,” said one review. “But then I encountered a bug which prevented main story progression. It was one of the infamous bugs and had no fix." Another said similar: “The main game is great now after all the myriad patches, but it’s still buggy here and there.”
For a less high-stakes gaming experience, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Switch is a great choice at £52.99. Another great open-world experience is available in Hogwarts Legacy, currently just £24.99 at Currys.
That said, for a huge amount of content in a game that’s been redeemed to the point of being a masterpiece, the Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition is well-worth a go if you loved stylised worlds, intense gameplay, and a riveting storyline.
