According to a Reddit post that looked into the trophies for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, there is no platinum trophy to earn for the game.
It appears that Modern Warfare 3 is technically considered DLC for Modern Warfare 2, and so doesn't feature a platinum trophy. Of course, a lot of fans are not happy.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will allow players to play the campaign early for preordering
Platinum trophies are a sign that you've completed everything a game has to offer. Ever since the introduction of achievements, and then trophies, many players use these as a driving force to play more of a game. They're like a badge of honour and an extra target for players to meet. So, understandably, some players are annoyed at this revelation.

Oddly, it only seems to be the PS5 version with this issue as the PS4 version has one included. Perhaps it will be patched in, but it hasn't stopped the backlash on Reddit.
"That is just further proof for the fact that mw3 was orginally supposed to be a dlc for mw2" says one fan, u/FoxDaim. Scepticism is running rampant and with good cause as u/kelrics1910 said "Here's your $70 DLC. You're Welcome."
Have we reached a point where Activision needs to admit that they can't meet the demands of a yearly franchise now? Many players have been complaining for years that each iteration is getting smaller or offers no major content changes aside from a new campaign.
There is optimism to be seen somewhere, "It weirdly has a Platinum on the PS4 version though so this is likely an error" says u/AlsopK, but for most in the comments, this is being seen as yet "another reason" why gaming isn't in a "great place currently" as mentioned by u/SotarkWarstorm "It’s $120 AU + an additional $50 if you want the battle pass. The current state of video games is a mess."
