Assassin’s Creed is one of gaming’s biggest names, stretching back to when it became a tentpole series in the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 era. Anyone interested in gaming back in 2009 will remember the iconic Assassin’s Creed 2 trailer featuring Justice, perhaps the most swaggering display ever committed to screen.

The series has only gone from strength to strength since, with tons of sequels set across so many countries and historical eras, from revolutionary America to the Ancient Greece, from Ancient Eqypt to the Viking invasion of Britain. This Black Friday, PC players can plug into the Animus at a massive discount via the Ubisoft store, no matter where in time you want to go.

Last year’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage is just £18, down from £44.99. This one went back to Assassin’s Creed’s roots, foregoing a massive open world for a more tightly-designed and paced adventure and an increased focus on killing high-profile targets.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, a romp through Ancient Greece and Sparta, is just £10, down from £49.99. This one is absolutely massive, with hundreds of hours of content to slice, dice and parkour your way through.

The best value is perhaps in the American History pack, featuring Assassin's Creed III Remastered, Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag, Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry, Assassin's Creed Liberation Remastered, and Assassin's Creed Rogue all for just £24.50 and featuring some of the most highly-rated games in the series.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage has a 4.4 out of 5 rating at Amazon, with customers praising the more focused gameplay over the expansive Valhalla, Odyssey, and Origins installments. “A brilliant return to the original style of stealth-based Assassin’s Creed games,” said a five-star review. “One of my favourite games. The story is great and there's lots of the Hidden Ones.”

“I'm a huge fan of Assassins Creed, from the first game through to this one,” said another. “As with all franchises, there have been highs and lows. This one, although by no means groundbreaking as it follows the same winning formula as many of the others, is enjoyable, with plenty of opportunities for stealth-based fun.” Another simply said: “One of the best stories so far in the series.”

Some haven’t been quite so blown away, however. “Had very high hopes for this but it feels very stiff and robotic,” said one review. “The storyline was a bit nothingy and the combat was dull.”

Another said: “The game can be easily finished in a couple of days.”

For an alternative action-adventure title on PC, the well-regarded Dragon’s Dogma 2 is just £30.76 on Steam. Offering incredible value on a game widely believed to be one of the best ever made, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is just £6.29 on GOG.

But if assassinating unsuspecting and morally dubious baddies through the ages appeals most, head to Ubisoft and check out the wide range of Assassin’s Creed discounts.
