You can’t deny that 2022 was an incredible year for gaming, and one of the year’s best PS5 console exclusives is now available for free on Xbox Series X/S, as well as PC.
Amongst all the incredible titles that released last year, like Elden Ring, God of War Ragnarök and Horizon Forbidden West, this particular action-adventure game didn’t really get a lot of attention at launch. Drum roll, please - it’s Ghostwire: Tokyo, and over the last month or so, it's been making quite the comeback.
Take a look at the trailer for Ghostwire: Tokyo’s new free content update below.
Ghostwire: Tokyo allows players to venture around Tokyo while unleashing paranormal abilities to defeat spirits. Visually, it’s an absolute treat, and since its addition to PS Plus’ Extra-tier game library, fans who missed out on playing it at launch have hailed it as “sensational”.

Now, Xbox gamers can also join in on the action too. As Wccftech reports, the game’s timed PS5 exclusivity period is over, and it’s been added straight onto Xbox Game Pass for those with either an Xbox Series X/S or PC.
What’s more, a new content update is available for free on all platforms, which includes a rogue-lite game mode called The Spider’s Thread, which faces players with a 30-stage gauntlet. According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, the update also adds some extra side missions, areas to explore, new enemies and combat abilities to master.
We really enjoyed Ghostwire: Tokyo when it first released - in our review, we gave it a seven out of 10, and praised the beautiful environments, stunning audio and “inspiring use of haptics”. That latter point applies specifically to the PS5 version, of course - Tango Gameworks took full advantage of the DualSense’s features to create a truly immersive experience. Even so, that doesn’t mean you should shy away from playing it on Xbox Series X/S.
At this point, there’s really no excuse not to try Ghostwire: Tokyo. Unless you only own a Nintendo Switch, of course. Be sure to get on it if you can, though.
