Despite speculation and the belief that the Microsoft acquisition of Activision Blizzard would mean otherwise, it seems as though the new Call of Duty title will not be arriving to Xbox Game Pass after all.
With Microsoft assuring players that its acquisition of Activision Blizzard would mean that some of its biggest titles would be included in the Xbox Game Pass subscription service, it seems as though that won’t be the case.

This means that Xbox Series X/S users will have to pay the same price as PlayStation 5 users for the upcoming Call of Duty title which will reportedly be Black Ops Gulf War.

Expected to be released sometime this year, Black Ops Gulf War is the next entry in the long-running Call of Duty franchise and despite not having much information about it yet, we can probably expect some more news during the Call of Duty Direct show on 9 June.
However, according to a report by The Verge, it is doubtful that the game will be included in Xbox Game Pass as this would be a massive blow to profits. As you can imagine, the Call of Duty franchise makes a lot of money through full-price copy sales.
So although Microsoft is determined to cut down on costs following it recently shutting down even more game studios, it will be breaking a promise to fans by not adding Black Ops Gulf War to the Xbox Game Pass.
However, with rumours that the Xbox Game Pass subscription service will be upping its prices, this could be a way for Microsoft to keep its word with fans.

As for PlayStation users, Sony’s contract with Microsoft means that any Call of Duty title released over the next 10 years will be available on the PlayStation 5. However, this will unfortunately be at full price.
