Update: Xbox has now confirmed that Black Ops 6 will indeed launch as a Game Pass day one title on console and PC.
The annual Call of Duty pre-launch marketing campaign is finally underway.
Last week, it was confirmed - as suspected - that this year’s Call of Duty instalment will indeed be Black Ops 6.

A mysterious website was launched that featured an old-school TV set, alluding to the era during which the game will be set.
Captioned, ‘The truth lies,’ the trailer didn’t give much away, instead showing vague clips of the usual kind of Call of Duty covert operations.
We should learn far more about the game on 9 June as the Xbox Games Showcase will be followed by a Black Ops 6 deep dive.
Hopefully, that’ll include some actual gameplay seeing as the initial teaser consisted of cinematic footage.

We can infer when Black Ops 6 might be set though in the meantime. In the teaser, the date 11/91 can be seen suggesting that, as leakers suggested, the next instalment in the franchise will be set during the Gulf War.
A setting of 1991 would fit with the style of television I mentioned earlier.
It turns out though that we may not have to wait until 9 June to hear more. Xbox could be planning a major announcement for later today.
Take a look at the Black Ops 6 trailer below.
Those who have the Xbox Game Pass app on Android and iOS have this morning, as spotted by The Verge’s Tom Warren, reported receiving a very exciting notification.

“Just announced, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is coming to Game Pass on day one later this year,” it read.
You read that right. Following Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision, it looks as if Black Ops 6 will be launching on Game Pass as a day one release.
This is great news for those of you with an active subscription, as every day one release gained is money saved on pricey pre-orders.
The elephant in the room is that, at this moment in time, neither Activision nor Microsoft has referenced this outside of the notification suggesting it may be coming later today with the notification accidentally dropped ahead of time.

We’ll be keeping an eye out for that concrete confirmation.
