Call of Duty: Black Ops is back for its sixth instalment at the end of this year (more like Call of Duty: Back Ops, am I right folks?) and Activision is giving everyone two opportunities to take part in its open beta ahead of its October release date.
There is a small stipulation however, as whilst the latter beta is free to anyone who wants to take part, the earlier one is only available for those playing the beta on a specific console or those who are willing to shell out some extra cash beforehand.
As announced last night on both the official Call of Duty Twitter account and the Call of Duty blog, the first open beta will run for six days from the 30th of August up until the 4th of September.

To take part in this one, you'll either have to had pre-ordered Black Ops 6 (allowing you take part in the beta on PlayStation, PC and Xbox) or you'll have to be an active Game Pass subscriber.
Activision did however clarify that "Game Pass Core may also be required for MP Beta access" on Xbox, which assumedly means that those who only have an active Xbox Game Pass PC subscription won't be able to take part on consoles.
The second open beta runs from the 6th to the 9th of September and is free to take part in regardless of your platform of choice. There are some extra perks for those who have pre-ordered during both betas though, as players who have purchased the Vault Edition of Black Ops 6 prior to these dates can test out five extra weapons and four bonus operators during both betas.
Game Pass subscribers and Call of Duty fans will doubtlessly reap further benefits down the line as a result of Microsoft's acquisition of Activision last year, but at least PlayStation owners won't be left completely out in the cold. It's already very clear who is going to be the favourite moving forward though.
