It’s hard to find a single Witcher fan who’s actually happy about the fact that Henry Cavill is leaving the Netflix show. In fact, at the time of writing, over 200,000 fans have signed a petition to keep Cavill in the show as Geralt and fire the writers instead, which says a lot.
Liam Hemsworth is set to take over as Geralt in the series’ fourth season, so we still have some episodes of Cavill goodness ahead of us before the big change happens. As reported by Eurogamer, it turns out even Doug Cockle, the voice actor for Geralt in The Witcher games, isn’t exactly thrilled about Cavill’s departure.
Before we get into it, take a look at this awesome Witcher pyrography art below.
“Well I think it's really sad,” he revealed on Eurogamer’s One-to-One podcast show. “And there's a lot of people speculating on the reasons why he's decided to leave, but whatever the reason is, I think it is sad, because Henry, he did a fabulous job as Geralt of Rivia.”

During the podcast episode, Cockle recalled speaking to Cavill at the premiere of Netflix’s The Witcher: “We spent a good, I don't know, an hour or two, chatting about the Witcher world and being Geralt of Rivia,” he said. “I do remember we talked about Superman, we talked about Geralt and The Witcher. We had some similar thoughts about Geralt if I remember correctly. He felt the same way I do about him not being an emotionless being, and I think we can see that in his performance.
“So yeah, I'm sad to see him go. I wish Liam Hemsworth the very best of fortunes with it. I am excited to see what he does with it but I'm sad to see Henry go, because Henry, I just felt he did a fabulous job.”
It’s safe to say we all feel the same. Cockle added that he feels for Hemsworth having to step into some chunky “Geralt of Rivia-sized shoes”, since “Henry really embodied the role of Geralt in a wonderful way.”
