Each time a new cast member joins the team, the reality that The Last of Us season two is becoming real solidifies. With Abby and Dina’s actors now found, and the usual discourse beginning to quiet down a little, the fandom believed they knew what to expect next. But when has life in The Last of Us universe ever been straightforward?
You see, the word on the apocalypse surviving grapevine is that someone new will be joining the cast, destined to play a brand new character. We’ve all seen the first teaser from HBO’s cast, and we didn’t spot anyone who looked out of place, yet according to certain sources, the cast is still incomplete.
Speaking of sequels, have you listened to our The Last of Us Part II Remastered review yet?
More surprisingly, the apparent missing component to this exciting ensemble is none other than Catherine O’Hara, aka Moira Rose from Schitt’s Creek. According to Daniel Richtman, O’Hara would assume the role of Gail, a completely new character to the franchise who will star in three episodes in the new season.
Although Richtman has been on the money before with his insider scoops, nothing from HBO or the rest of The Last of Us cast has confirmed whether this news is true. What is more, if it is true, what would Gail’s role be in all of this?
Advert
Undoubtedly, Moira Rose’s eccentricities have coloured our imagination at this point, but all we can envision is some over the top character who occasionally offers sage advice, but typically errs on the side of the melodramatic. Some of us would love to see this, though it’s not exactly fitting for the show.
Of course, O’Hara has just finished filming Beetlejuice 2, meaning her schedule does appear to be somewhat freed up if the rumours are true. However, with a star like O’Hara, also known for her role in the Home Alone franchise and as Sally in Nightmare Before Christmas, we doubt her schedule will stay open for long.
The Last of Us season two is really coming together and getting us hyped up for the challenges soon to come. We hope O’Hara is among the cast once more teasers drop online, but we’ll remain cautiously optimistic for now; until HBO confirms this news, it could be nothing more than wishful thinking.
