It’s news that we were perhaps all expecting, but it’s nice to hear nonetheless.
The Last of Us has been renewed for a third season at HBO.
What’s perhaps most impressive about this news though is just how early the series has been renewed.

I’m likely not telling you anything you don’t already know when I say that season two hasn’t even begun airing yet.
Yes, it has received critical acclaim on Rotten Tomatoes, with a ‘Certified Fresh’ score of 92%, but HBO has no idea what the season’s viewership will be.
And yet, it’s already garnered a renewal, giving you some idea of the network’s confidence.
ICYMI: Take a look at the trailer for season two below.
HBO is right to be confident.

The Last of Us’ season two trailer broke several network records, so it’s pretty likely that viewers will flock in in the millions for the full series.
It’s a change from the first season when the show was renewed several episodes into its nine-episode run.
Unfortunately, there are only seven episodes this time around in season two, although it has been teased that they’re both longer and far more action-packed.
Let’s be real, we’ve got nothing to worry about. That 92% score proves that we’re in good hands.

Of course, if you’ve played Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Part II, you’ll know that we’re in for a challenging ride, but that’s a part of the beauty of this story.
Season two will kick off this Sunday, 13 April, on HBO.
If you’re in the UK, that translates to 14 April where you can catch the show on both Sky and NOW.
