Star Wars officially confirms two new prequels set before Phantom Menace

Star Wars officially confirms two new prequels set before Phantom Menace

Star Wars is back, baby!

Just when you thought you were done with Star Wars prequels, two new ones are announced.

Despite the backlash the Star Wars prequels initially received, they ended up earning a place in our hearts.

Imagine our delight, then, when we learnt more stories of the time before The Phantom Menace are on the way.

Love it or hate it, The Acolyte has revived Star Wars for many.

Although some would argue the Disney series has ruined Anakin’s origin story, they can’t deny that it’s brought Star Wars back to the forefront of our minds.

Just because we can, here's the trailer for The Acolyte. Enjoy!

With this return to popularity, The Acolyte universe is expanding, and with it comes two new stories.

Told through the medium of novels, fan-favourites from the new show will take centre stage.

Announced by Lucasfilm at San Diego Comic-Con, one story will focus on Vernestra Rwoh, while a YA story will follow the antics of Jecki and Yord.

Vernestra’s book is titled Star Wars: The Acolyte – Wayseeker; upon its pages, it’ll explore her life “20 years prior to the events of The Acolyte”.

Her story will be written by author Justina Ireland, who many fans will know thanks to her creative input in Star Wars: The High Republic.

Ireland isn’t in charge of Jecki and Yord’s tale, though, that responsibly falls at the feet of Tess Gratton.

As of yet, there’s no title for the novel, and the details that have been revealed are minimal.

However, what we do know is that this story will also take place before what unfolds in The Acolyte.

Other announcements also came during Comic-Con, yet there’s still no word of that season two renewal.

Campaigns for a second season of The Acolyte are still going strong, which we hope will bear fruit before the end of the year.

Even if we don’t get what we want, at least the Jedi we connected with during those eight episodes will live on in other ways, through other mediums.
