Secret alternate plans for the death of Mace Windu in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith have been revealed.
Looking back, when we were first treated to the Star Wars prequel trilogy, it wasn't as well received by fans and critics alike. However, over time, at least when it comes to Revenge of the Sith, that prequel trilogy is perhaps better than we initially gave it credit for.

We’ve already gone into spoiler territory with Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith as indicated by the headline of this article but just a heads up, I am about to go into a bit more detail regarding the death of Mace Windu.
To cut a long story short, Sheev Palpatine aka Darth Sidious manipulates Anakin Skywalker who later became Darth Vader to turn to the Dark side of the Force.
There was a moment in Revenge of the Sith when Sidious’ corruption of Anakin was nearly complete and when Sidious was confronted by Windu, Anakin sliced off the Jedi Master’s hand allowing Sidious to fling Windu through a window on Coruscant using Force Lightning.
However, as reported by sffgazette.com (via Popverse), Mace Windu’s death nearly went differently in Revenge of the Sith before Samuel L. Jackson intervened.

Despite not featuring in Revenge of the Sith, a young Boba Fett was planned to be the one that killed Mace Windu, said his actor, Daniel Logan during a GalaxyCon Richmond panel.
It’s claimed that George Lucas wanted the young Boba Fett to play a big role in the death of Mace Windu after the Jedi Master killed his father, Jango Fett in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones.
“Mace was going to come at Boba like he did with Jango, but because Boba had already experienced beforehand what had happened, I hit the jetpacks, I flew upside down, or on my back,” revealed Daniel Logan.
He continued: “As I’m flying on my back with the jetpacks along the ground, I pull out Jango’s blasters and I shoot him [Windu] right between the stomach, and that’s how Mace Windu was meant to die.”

Yet, Samuel L. Jackson convinced George Lucas to go in another direction, which resulted in the Revenge of the Sith scene that made it into the movie after Jackson believed it was too unrealistic for the young Boba Fett to kill Jedi Master Mace Windu.
