Star Wars fans are discussing the possibility of seeing The Emperor's parents or other family members in The Acolyte.
"In case it's too early to see Cosinga himself, what about his father and mother? They could even mention the duel between Cosinga's grandfather and Tapalo," the Reddit poster wrote on the Reddit for The Acolyte.
An important thing to note is that if we do ever see Palpatine's family, then this will actually be the first time, outside of the time period of the sequel trilogy, that we see them in canon. While several Star Wars fans might know of the name Cosinga Palpatine, that's a name that exists only in the Legends continuity that was rendered not canon by the Disney purchase of Lucasfilm and Star Wars as a brand.

ICYMI: We recently caught up with The Acolyte's Dafne Keen, Rebecca Henderson, and Charlie Barnett.
In Legends continuity, Cosinga Palpatine was the father of the Emperor, and had around five children per sources from the era. According to those same sources, he hated his eldest child, but liked his other children, and was killed by Sheev Palpatine 65 years before the events of A New Hope, who also killed his mother, his other siblings and several other people by using the power of the dark side of the Force after he was groomed into service by Darth Plagueis, who befriended Sheev and offered him power.
Currently, there's no ties to any other Star Wars material present in The Acolyte other than the fleeting appearance of Jedi Ki-Adi Mundi, who appeared briefly in one episode of the show. Other than that, the show is taking a look at aspects of the Star Wars universe that previously haven't been explored at all, and is introducing new concepts to the universe while also developing the story behind why the Jedi became so complacent by the time of the prequel trilogy.
