Finally, the release date for the second season of Squid Game has been announced.
It was back in 2021 that the South Korean dystopian thriller took the world by storm, rapidly becoming the most-watched series on Netflix.
In fact, it retains its title to this day with 1,650.45 million hours watched in the first 28 days of the show’s availability.

Season four of Stranger Things follows in second place with 1,352.09 million hours watched, with Wednesday in third with 1,237.15 million hours.
Squid Game centred around the character Seong Gi-hun, an entrant in the titular Squid Game which offered 456 players the opportunity to engage in a series of children’s games in the hopes of securing a prize of 45.6 billion South Korean won.
What those entrants did not realise is that losing would come at the cost of their lives.
Seong Gi-hun may have emerged as our victor but by the end of the season, he vowed to exact revenge on the gamemakers.

We’ll finally be able to see that start to unfold this coming December.

What’s more, it’s been revealed that a third and final season will then round us out next year, in 2025.
No more three-year waits? Sounds good to me.
In a message to fans, the series’ writer, producer, and director Hwang Dong-hyuk wrote, “I am beyond excited to be writing this letter to announce the date for season two and share the news of season three, the final season.”
He continued, “Seong Gi-hun who vowed revenge at the end of season one returns and joins the game again. Will he succeed in getting his revenge? Front Man doesn’t seem to be an easy opponent this time either.”

“I am thrilled to see the seed that was planted in creating a new Squid Game grow and bear fruit through the end of this story. We’ll do our best to make sure we bring you yet another thrill ride. I hope you’re excited for what’s to come.”
I know I certainly am. Bring on 26 December, leaving us plenty of time to start a rewatch.
