There’s no need for alarm.
Tom Holland isn’t set to disappear anytime soon as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s flagship Spider-Man.
In fact, the actor’s fourth solo outing as the webslinger is set to begin filming imminently.

In the meantime though, the MCU is set to officially welcome in a brand new Spidey in the upcoming Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
This is an animated series that’s set to chart Peter Parker’s superhero origin story, something that wasn’t explored in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.
As much as Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is a prequel though, so too is it its own standalone project.
We are in The Multiverse Saga after all, so I’m sure it won’t surprise you when I say that this project is set in an alternate timeline.

The gimmick here is that Peter will be mentored by Norman Osborn instead of Tony Stark.
The MCU's next film will be Captain America: Brave New World.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is set to premiere on Disney Plus on 29 January 2025, and will see Hudson Thames take on the title role, having previously portrayed the webslinger in What If…?.

It all sounds very promising on paper, but Marvel fans surprisingly are yet to be won over.
“The snippet of animation I saw in the sneak peak trailer was not impressive. I think the true audience for this show is going to be very young, like seven to eight year olds,” wrote Reddit user iguananinja.
“I hope the story is great because I kinda hate the art and animation style,” added SeoulsInThePose.

“No hate on the animators, but I hope the story is super good. Because, god, this looks ugly,” echoed NowWeGetSerious.
I wish I could say I found plenty of positive sentiment to drown out the negativity, but it was far and few between.
Wise_Wait_3054 was one faithful defender, writing, “Damn, y’all are NOT willing to take a chance on something new! [...] Get your heads out of your butts, maybe be open to something different instead of having the same old animation style shoved down your throat.”
I quite agree. Let’s make up our minds on 29 January.
