Fans are happy that the popular Spider-Man actor has been officially confirmed for the upcoming sequel.
It will come as no surprise whatsoever that Tom Holland is reprising his role in Spider-Man 4. After all, we’ve seen the likes of Terrence Howard replaced by Don Cheadle as War Machine in Iron Man 2 and Mark Ruffalo replacing Edward Norton in the MCU’s version of the Incredible Hulk.

It’s not outside the realms of possibility that Sony might have decided to replace Tom Holland (as silly as that would have been) with a new actor such as Kevin Hart, especially with the multiverse shenanigans. Actually, do I want to see Kevin Hart play Peter Parker now?

Nonetheless, Destin Daniel Cretton will be taking over directorial duties from Jon Watts for Spider-Man 4 and with that arrives Tom Holland as our friendly neighbourhood hero once more, and fans are delighted.
“Shocked,” said a sarcastic shrek3onDVDandBluray on Reddit with solo13508 adding “I hope they keep it street level. Spider-Man isn't a character who should constantly be having multiverse adventures.”
Other members of the thread were also happy with the choice of Destin Daniel Cretton who already has the MCU’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings under his belt.
“Great opportunity with some cool fight choreography replies Bearjupiter and HomerianSymphony responded, “I'm hoping for a Spider-Man/Shang-Chi team up.”

Without giving too much away, it will be interesting what story Spider-Man 4 will tell following the events of 2021’s No Way Home. Personally, I’m hoping for something more grounded too that will feature old-school Spidey villains, King Pin and Venom.
Spider-Man 4 does not have a release date at the time of writing but it might be safe to assume that it’s going to be at least a couple of years away.
In the meantime, we can look forward to the arrival of Captain America: New World Order released in cinemas on 14 February 2025.
