Scarlet Witch MCU return teased, but not as you remember her

Return of the Queen

Scarlet Witch is not only one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she’s also one of my favourites.

From her first proper appearance in Avengers: Age Of Ultron to her most recent outing in Doctor Strange: Multiverse Of Madness I think she’s been characterised very well, despite being a very different version to the mutant we see in the Marvel comics.

She was one of the best parts of Doctor Strange: Multiverse Of Madness, especially her fight with the Illuminati

Currently she’s MIA, presumably dying at the end of the Doctor Strange sequel but fans like myself aren’t so sure, in all likelihood she was transported to some alternate universe before she died.

In a recent interview with The Playlist Elizabeth Olsen was asked about her next MUC appearance, and while she couldn’t confirm if and when it’s happening she does have some notes on how it should be done.

Turns out Olsen wants Wanda to go full-on witch-mode and be old, grey and withered when we next see her.

Olsen said: “You know, when I think about my dream version [of Wanda], it’s like 50 years later, and I have white hair— such a big, massive white wig—and gnarly face of wrinkles doing like a Tracy Ullman thing. And I am just like a creature that they find. And that’s how I imagine Wanda’s next journey."

Personally I’m hoping they pull a storyline from the comics where Wanda finds herself on Doctor Doom’s doorstep with no memory of who she is or what happened.

It’d be a good way of bringing her back into the events of Avengers: Doomsday, as well as a reason why Doom is so keen on taking over the multiverse, and why he’s got enough power to potentially do it.

That said, maybe Wanda will have no role in the next Avengers films, or maybe it’ll be a different version of the character entirely.
