The Avengers Tower has been a prominent location in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, acting as the base of operations for the heroes over the series’ run.
First appearing in The Avengers, the tower has been the site of some of the most iconic scenes in the series. I’m sure we’ll never forget Hulk smashing Loki into the floor, or Captain America nearly lifting Mjolnir off the ground.
Still, times are changing. Following the death of Tony Stark and the team disbanding in Avengers: Endgame, the tower now has a new owner.

Are you excited for Marvel's Thunderbolts*?
In Marvel’s upcoming Thunderbolts*, the tower is now owned by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, played by Seinfeld’s Julia Louis-Dreyfus. The character was previously seen in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Black Widow.
As reported by Empire, Thunderbolts* shows Avengers Tower renamed to Watchtower. This will act as her base to bring together the titular team of misfits and kick off the film’s events.

What’s more is it’s a “symbol of things taking a darker turn,” as Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier puts it.
“We know what that tower means,” the full quote reads. “Who’s the person you would least like to own that tower, that means so much to so many people? Can you use that as a symbol of things taking a darker turn?”
MCU fans are torn on what this could mean for the film.
“Calling it The Watchtower makes sense if the movie is Sentry-based,” writes one comment on Reddit. “His base of operations was The Watchtower.”

“They’re gonna call them the Dark Avengers by the end of this aren’t they?” wrote another. “I think it’s a good title but I just wish they had actually had more DA members in here like Red Hulk or even Zemo.”
A third comment wrote: “They could not have chosen a more boring character to have bought the Avengers Tower.”
In all fairness, Avengers Tower hasn’t appeared in the series for so long that it was due for an appearance. While we’re still waiting on Norman Osborn or Dr. Doom to take over the building, Thunderbolts* should at least create a darker atmosphere for the universe moving forward.
Thunderbolts* will hit cinemas on 2 May, 2025.
