It appears that Kang may be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after all, but only for a brief stint.
Kang was, of course, intended to be The Multiverse Saga’s big bad, although things haven’t exactly gone to plan.
Actor Jonathan Majors was found guilty of misdemeanour assault, and then there’s the fact that viewers simply weren’t interested in Kang as a villain.

While the character hasn’t exactly been written out of the MCU, Marvel was quick to announce Robert Downey Jr’s casting as Doctor Doom, signifying that The Multiverse Saga was now being taken in a different direction.
A face off with Doom is now what we’re leading up to in next year’s Avengers: Doomsday, previously titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Many wondered if the film might open with Doom destroying all of the Kang variants to tie up any loose ends.
That’s certainly a possibility, as one insider is claiming that Marvel now has a “plan” when it comes to the character.

Captain America: Brave New World is out now.
The tidbit comes from film insider Jeff Sneider who, as reported by ComicBookMovie, teased that Marvel “now has a plan to wrap up his arc”.
Sneider further added that Severance star Tramell Tillman could take over the role, with the main theory remaining that Doom would kill the character off.

Of course, I have to urge you to take this with a pinch of salt, but it makes a lot of sense.
While He Who Remains and the Conqueror were rather easily dealt with, which I think is why Marvel has struggled to build momentum around the character, and Victor Timely has been returned to his place on the timeline, fans are left without answers for the hundreds of variants we all saw in that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania scene.
As desperate as we all are to be done with the Kang storyline, it doesn’t make sense for us to accept that those Kangs are all simply giving up their universe-conquering plight.
I have a sneaky feeling that Avengers: Doomsday is going to shape up to be quite the experience.
