Marvel has seemingly shelved the Blade movie that has been in development hell for the past few years.
According to Culture Crave who announced the news on Twitter, Marvel has, without fanfare, placed the movie on hold.
Marvel will be on the big screen next year with Thunderbolts*
“It no longer has a release date” says the tweet.

The film was supposed to star Oscar winner Mahershala Ali in the lead role as the daywalker.
Over the past year, the film has been hit with several delays due to writers, and even the director, leaving the project.
Now it seems Marvel has given up for the time being.
It’s not really a surprise given Disney and Marvel are working hard to correct the course of the ship after a dip in audience and critic ratings of recent projects.

With the confirmation that Avengers: DOOMSDAY will start shooting early next year, and Spider-Man 4 begins production in Summer 2025, it’s hard to see where the Blade movie would fit.
Of course, fans are unhappy as many were looking forward to seeing a new Blade production.
“This should have been an easy slam dunk, absolute idiots at Marvel smh,” says one fan on Twitter.
While another Marvel fan says, “There's only one Blade...and there's only ever gonna be one Blade,” quoting Wesley Snipes’ Blade who appeared in Deadpool & Wolverine this year.

Speculation is rife on why the film is suddenly on hold with some wondering if the love for Wesley Snipes’ return gave the studio pause.
This might be the thinking of this Twitter user who said, “Looks like Wesley Snipes is getting that final Blade movie?”
Most fans are thinking the same thing, as summed up here, “MCU's biggest fumble to date. This was in the bag, hire a writer who knows the character, keep it simple, and boom $1b box office.”
