The Marvel Cinematic Universe is gearing up for a major team-up.
Well, several actually.
Next year will bring us Thunderbolts*, which will see Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, US Agent, Taskmaster, Ghost, and Sentry unite.

That’ll be followed by Avengers: Doomsday in 2026, marking the return of everybody’s favourite superhero squad.
Neither of those are the team-ups I’m angling at though.
Instead, I’m talking about the forthcoming Young Avengers which is very quietly being built.
I say ‘quietly’ because no Young Avengers project has yet been announced but it’s no secret that it’s happening.

Marvel has been introducing familiar Young Avengers characters for some time, and then we had Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel) inviting Kate Bishop to form a team at the end of The Marvels.
It’s expected that characters like Wiccan, Cassie Lang, and America Chavez will eventually join the line-up.
It’s also now being teased that the Young Avengers will unite in a Disney Plus series believed to be titled Champions.
That’s according to leaker Daniel Richtman, via ComicBookMovie.

Take a look at the trailer for the aforementioned trailer for Thunderbolts* below.
In the comics, the Young Avengers and Champions are actually two separate teams, but they do include some crossover characters.
The Champions only debuted in 2016, with the team featuring Kamala Khan, Miles Morales, and Sam Alexander/Nova.

Given that Kamala is the one leading the recruitment of this young team in the MCU, it certainly leans into the rumour that it’ll be the Champions we see instead of the Young Avengers.
I suppose it’ll be easier to differentiate between this young team and the real Avengers if they don’t have almost exactly the same name.
In fact, Marvel has already offered us a small glimpse at the Champions/Young Avengers in action somewhat, aboard Disney Cruise Ships.
At the Worlds of Marvel restaurant aboard the Disney Treasure, Cassie Lang, Riri Williams, and America Chavez can be seen hanging out with one another as part of the Marvel Celebration of Heroes: Groot Remix show.
Of course, this doesn’t mean this is the exact line-up we’ll be seeing on the big screen as Disney Parks experiences aren’t always totally canon, sometimes existing in different timelines.

Still, it’s a thrill to see these young heroes unite for the first time, and hopefully not the last.
