Thanos is easily the greatest threat the Marvel Cinematic Universe has faced thus far, although there’s some stiff competition on the way in the form of Victor von Doom.
But so too is Marvel unleashing chaos in one of its adjacent universes, the Sony Spider-Man Universe (SSU).
Venom: The Last Dance is set to release on 25 October, rounding out the Tom Hardy-fronted trilogy.

The film’s second trailer has now been released which, naturally, has left us hyped - mainly because it features a previously unseen big bad.
I had to do a double take the first time I watched the trailer but yes, that really is Knull.
This iconic villain, often considered to be one of the most powerful in the entire Marvel Comics roster, is set to be a big ol’ problem for Eddie Brock.
Take a look at the new trailer for Venom: The Last Dance below.
If you’re not familiar with Knull, he’s essentially the creator of all symbiotes.

A Dark God, an eldritch horror, God of the Abyss … all of the above apply. Knull isn’t a being that you’d want to encounter under any circumstances.
It turns out that in the SSU, the symbiotes seemingly fled to Earth to escape Knull which is what The Last Dance’s plot will centre around.
It’s not yet been confirmed who’s playing Knull.
Rhys Ifans was confirmed to be in the film earlier this year in an undisclosed role.

Ifans portrayed Curt Conners in the Andrew Garfield-fronted The Amazing Spider-Man so initially, fans wondered if the actor might somehow be portraying that role.
Partway through this latest trailer though we see a silhouetted Knull with light-coloured long hair shielding his face.
It isn’t too dissimilar from Ifans’ likeness. It could be him which would explain why his role was previously kept under wraps.
We certainly don’t have confirmation though.

Fans are split on finally seeing Knull on the big screen with some being excited and others feeling like this is a waste of a great character.
“I’m sorry but Venom speedrunning the entire villain list in one trilogy is insane. Knull is like beyond beyond an ‘Avengers level threat’ this is such a waste,” said Twitter user EvanSowards.
“Knull is a Thanos level villain. Better not f**k him up,” added DanielRPK.
There is a theory that The Last Dance might set up the MCU’s Spider-Man 4, with both Brock and Knull going on to appear in that film.

Whatever The Last Dance has in store, I look forward to seeing it unfold next month.
