Marvel’s plans for the future aren’t aligning with what fans want, and it’s creating some tension.
One could argue that the tension between Marvel and its fandom is always palpable. However, with the MCU as we know it changing, and Phase 6 concerning fans, the unease has increased.
To make matters worse, claims have been made that Doctor Doom and Reed Richards’ relationship will be less important than what fans saw in the comics.

Speaking of Marvel characters, let's get ready for Venom: The Last Dance
Moreover, their relationship will resemble “the relationship between Tony Stark and Thanos”.
Shockingly (said with sarcasm), this hasn’t gone down well with fans.

“If this is because there’s going to be more emphasis on Peter Parker dealing with a Tony Stark looking Doom and reckoning with it I’m gonna flip my sh*t,” posted Redditor plainviewbowling.
“You know they’re going to write some cringey ass scene where he calls Doom Mr Stark and he replies back with ‘No, I am DOOM’,” commented Ok-News-6189.
Similar comments are being made on social media, and just like those shared on Reddit, no one is keen on this need to fill the “emotion quota with Peter”.

There are, however, several fans who don’t mind this approach.
As one Redditor explained, “I agree that shouldn’t be why, but I am glad at the news because that’s basically what I would do. Fans forget these are movies not comics or TV. There’s no time to build some deep backstory.”
This could be a “horrible mistake” the MCU is about to make, or it could end up working out for the best.
Most believe the former statement, but maybe we should all reserve judgement until we see the final product in front of us...?

For better or worse, Doctor Doom and Reed Richards aren’t going to be as familiar with one another as we’re used to.
