Casting choices are a surefire way to ignite annoyance and/or excitement amongst fans – we’ve seen it in video games and films alike. But we’re happy to say that, if the rumours are true, we heartily agree that Mads Mikkelsen would make the perfect Doctor Doom.
The Fantastic Four reboot has been generating a lot of interest for some time now, with each nugget of news sending MCU fans scrambling as they try to ascertain its truth. The first big news in a long time came just this week when reports hinted that Pedro Pascal, the quote-unquote “Daddy of the internet”, would be making the move to Marvel to play Dr. Reed Richards.

As for whether Pascal is the right choice for the role, we’ll leave that debate up to you – some of us still feel the influence of the 2005 Fantastic Four film to unsee Ioan Gruffudd as Mister Fantastic. Then there’s also the fact that actors like John Krasinski, who’ve played variants of the role, are right there for the taking.

“I love Pedro Pascal. I believe he is one of the better actors of our time, but I don't think he is a good cast for RR. John Krasinski was very good, I just don't see Pedro as the type,” explained @bulletproof844. Even the gossip that Matt Smith will take on the role seems more fitting for the type of character Reed Richards is.
But one actor we can all agree is suited to a Fantastic Four slot is Mads Mikkelsen as Doctor Doom. Can you imagine how amazing that would be? “Mads playing Dr Doom would be so damn good,” said one fan upon hearing the speculation on John Campea’s YouTube channel, with others nodding their heads in agreement. However, could Mikkelsen’s role of Kaecilius in Doctor Strange prevent him from getting the part?
It’s not completely unheard of for actors to assume a different role within the same universe – we've seen it with Gemma Chan who appeared in both Captain Marvel and The Eternals. Still, given how passionately the fans are receiving so much as a rumour of Mikkelsen as Doctor Doom, maybe, just maybe, Marvel will take note and make the right call.
