It may be hard to believe but it has been five years since Avengers: Endgame was released and despite the Marvel Cinematic Universe having moved on, fans are still hung up on the events of the 2019 title.
We all remember settling down in the cinema, popcorn in hand and experiencing the end of The Infinity Saga including the disbelief we felt over certain moments.
ICYMI: Take a look at the trailer for the upcoming Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra below.
One moment in particular was the death of Tony Stark, otherwise known as Iron Man, who had been a lead character in the MCU since Iron Man was released back in 2010.

Played by Robert Downey Jr., Tony Stark had gone from a stuck-up billionaire to a hero - and during the events of Avengers: Endgame, it was his sacrifice that ultimately saved humanity.
However, an unearthed interview with Downey has revealed that Iron Man’s fate may have been hinted at many years before.
In the interview with Business Insider back in 2019, Downey said, "The last suit he has isn't even designed for him to be able to survive using it. The first suit is all about 'Will this get me and my ego and my precious physical frame out of this cave I'm in and into the desert, where maybe the cavalry can come get me and bring me back to my stupid life?'”
The suit he is referring to is the last Iron Man suit he is seen wearing in Avengers: Endgame which he had created to be able to house the Infinity Stones.

In comparison to his early day suits which were focused on survival and protection, his later suits relied much more on attack and his very last had one job only: to save humanity with the sacrifice of its user.
Although Captain America once said that Tony would never have what it takes to make the sacrifice play, that is ultimately what he did and it is fitting that his last suit gave him the opportunity to do so. Even if we didn’t notice at first!
