The new Deadpool & Wolverine trailer has dropped and fans are already eagerly picking it apart to find as many Easter eggs as possible. Given what we know of the film, Deadpool and Wolverine will be adventuring through the multiverse in an attempt to save the world. This means plenty of opportunities for shenanigans, cameos, and secrets.
We’ve combed the trailer over and over since it first reached YouTube and spotted lots of nods to other Marvel and MCU properties.
The Bar
We all know that Wolverine, also known as Logan, loves a drink. In the trailer, he’s seen in a bar when Deadpool approaches him. This echoes his meeting with Rogue in the original X-Men film, but this scene is also a part of the Wolverine video game trailer coming from Insomniac, who also made the Marvel’s Spider-Man games for PlayStation.
The yellow suit
We knew that Wolverine’s iconic yellow suit was going to make an appearance, but it’s lovely to see it in all its glory. Hugh Jackman’s hair also takes on the traditional two-horned look from the comics and the X-Men TV show. Interestingly, Deadpool comments to Wolverine, “You were an X-Man. You were THE X-Man,” which says that Deadpool is aware of the X-Men and it also shows a proper mention of the mutant team in the MCU.

Azazel, Toad, and Lady Deathstrike
From some lovely zooming in, we’ve spotted both Azazel and Lady Deathstrike. The former was in X-Men: First Class, while the latter is in X-Men 2. We also got a very brief look at the return of Toad. These quick appearances in the trailer could mean many more cameos coming from X-Men stars and given that we’ve heard rumours of Cyclops appearing, this bodes well for those hoping to see a gathering of old favourites.
Ant-Man is dead
Well, at least in whatever universe this happens to take place in. We see from one shot that Ant-Man is dead and his skull has been used to house a base of operations of some sort. According to Rotten Tomatoes, this is the base of Cassandra Nova and several X-Men enemies. In the trailer, we see the mask lift and show his skull when Deadpool and Wolverine leap from an eye socket and through a…

Doctor Strange portal
We see the ‘heroes’ jump into a portal conjured by either Doctor Strange, Wong, or an alternate version of a sorcerer we may have met. It could even be Ned from the Spider-Man trilogy, he’s pretty handy at making portals. Interestingly, the portal is white in the trailer whereas normally the portal would show where the characters are travelling to. We can only guess that this is edited out for spoiler reasons.
Cassandra Nova
From the trailer, it seems that Cassandra Nova is the antagonist and we see her, bald head and all. Played by Emma Corrin, Cassandra is connected to Charles Xavier as his ‘kind of’ evil twin, she is his dark equal. Since her introduction in the comics, she has tried to take over the world several times using her psychic powers. It’s likely this is a variant of Cassandra, so we don’t really know exactly what she’s doing here. Yet.

20th Century Fox
In the background of Wade fighting Wolverine you can see the 20th Century Fox sign. This is a nod to the company that owned several Marvel properties before the Disney acquisition. Oddly, the sign seems to be made out of concrete and is rather large, it’s also broken and crumbling which could be a cheeky wink at the company being folded into Disney. This also means the pair is fighting in ‘Battleworld’ which, in the comics, is a world where various realities converge.
The TVA
With this being connected to the multiverse, we see several instances of the TVA, the Time Variance Authority, from the comics and the Loki Disney+ TV show. It seems Deadpool has been told to recruit Wolverine, although they know a lot about the bladed mutant, and we’re sure they have some secret plan they’re trying to enact.
Alioth
One of the big setpieces from the trailer shows us Alioth, again from the Loki TV show. Alioth is the Guardian of the Void and was controlled by a variant of Kang, ‘He Who Remains.’ It’s hard to know how Alioth fits into Deadpool & Wolverine. Perhaps the creature is guarding some entrance or exit to another reality, or perhaps they live within Battleworld.

The Claws
It seems this Wolverine is still skilled with his claws but they’re shy. In the bar scene, Deadpool comments that the claws don’t fully protrude, and in a later scene they emerge slowly rather than with the lightning-quick ‘snikt’. Is this a very old Wolverine? One who hasn’t battled in years? Or is hesitant to battle? Either way, when they do come out, he’s as savage as ever.
