You might have recently been to see Deadpool and Wolverine in cinemas. It seems a lot of people did given the $205 million made in the opening weekend, making it one of the biggest openings for an R-rated film. There are so many hidden details that you likely missed while laughing your head off or sitting on the edge of your seat watching all the action. We’re going to go over some of the best easter eggs, hidden secrets, and gags, so this is your warning that we will be spoiling the heck out of the film.
Last chance… this article features spoilers for Deadpool and Wolverine, so turn back now if you need to.
The reload punch
One of the big cameos for Deadpool and Wolverine was Henry Cavill who appeared as a version of Wolverine from another timeline. We first see the Superman actor working on a motorcycle before Deadpool approaches him and the two get into a scrap. If this wasn’t already a joyous moment, Cavill performs the iconic reload punch from his fight with Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible: Fallout.

Some old-school callbacks
When Deadpool and Wolverine first enter the void after being ejected from their timeline we get a quick look at two vintage items from the history of comics and the MCU. Sitting in the dust is the winged helmet of Thor and nearby you’ll also spot Captain America’s original shield. As we pan through the Void you may also spot Captain America’s Hydra shield from a recent comic book run, as well.
Lots of cameos
We can’t not mention the cameos. You’ll know of the main ones with Elektra, Blade and Gambit, but what about all those Deadpools at the end of the film? We’ve got Welshpool who was played by Wrexham’s star striker Paul Mullin. Of course, Ryan Reynolds is part owner of Wrexham F.C; then we have Ladypool played by Blake Lively, Reynolds’ wife; Kidpool and Babypool were played by Lively and Reynolds’ kids in real life too, so it was a family affair. You’ve also got Headpool, who was voiced by Nathan Fillion, and another of the Deadpool variants was played by Tom Holland’s brother. And if you recoginised Cowboy Deadpool you might know it was Matthew McConaughey.

No iPhone rule
When Deadpool first meets Cassandra Nova in her lair he remarks on her using an Amazon Fire smartphone. This is a joke about a rule put in place by Apple that means no villains in films are allowed to use an iPhone as the company doesn’t want to associate negative connotations with their product. Because Apple wants their products to be seen in the best light.
Details in the music
There are several music tracks used in the soundtrack which are small nods or callbacks. Of course, one of the biggest is the use of N’Sync’s Bye Bye Bye, which opens the film atop a brilliant action scene. But the song also plays on the radio of Cyclops’ car in X-2. Talking of radios, when Deadpool and Wolverine are fighting in the car and the radio changes stations, it briefly plays some of the soundtrack from The Greatest Showman, one of Hugh Jackman’s biggest box office hits.

Snipes dialogue
We have to reference some of the dialogue Wesley Snipes delivers in his appearance as Blade. There are some amazing lines delivered by many of the cameo stars, but Snipes specifically referred to the supposed falling out of him and Ryan Reynolds on the set of Blade: Trinity. The two actors had issues due to Reynolds’ humour and this comes up when Blade says “I always hated you” to which Deadpool replies “I know.” We also got a callback to Blade when the Daywalker mentioned skating uphill, which was a line from the original film.
Classic comics
During a montage near the start of the film, we get to see Deadpool visit some very iconic Wolverine moments. Each of these, aside from the short jokes which were a response to the original opinion of Jackman’s casting, referenced classic comic book storylines. Wolverine in the alleyway was from Age of Apocalypse; Logan on the cross is from Uncanny X-Men #251; the white tuxedo is from when Wolvie hung out in Madripoor and went by ‘Patch’; We also got a look at Old Man Logan, and the amazing fight between The Hulk and Wolverine.

Void objects
A lot of the objects seen throughout the void are pulled from various points in the MCU, but also other Marvel projects from 20th Century Fox - including the iconic logo of the distributor. Among the detritus, we spotted a crashed helicarrier, some Mad Max cars, the ice cream truck from Moonknight, the red room which had crashed into the sand, and some audience members got a glance of the Milano ship from Guardians of the Galaxy.
