Filming has officially commenced on season two of The Last of Us. You may have seen a few set photos floating around on social media, with one showing what looks to be the exterior of the Jackson party scene.
Season two will, of course, adapt The Last of Us Part II. It was back in January that casting news began to drop. We discovered that Kaitlyn Dever would be joining as Abby, alongside returning cast members Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie, respectively. Young Mazino is on board as Jessie while Isabela Merced will bring Dina to life. A couple of weeks later, it was then confirmed that Catherine O’Hara would join the show in an undisclosed role. For those of you who have been asking, ‘What about the rest of Abby’s cohort?’, answers have finally arrived. Manny, Mel, Nora, and Owen have now been cast.
Take a look at our review of The Last of Us Part II Remastered below.
This cast continues to get stronger and stronger. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's Danny Ramirez is joining season two as Manny, Runaways’ Ariela Barer will bring Mel to life, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Uncharted star Tati Gabrielle will portray Nora, while Family Law’s Spencer Lord will star as Owen.

If you’ve played The Last of Us Part II, then you’ll be very familiar with these characters but what can we glean from their character descriptions in the show? As reported by IGN, Manny is described as "a loyal soldier whose sunny outlook belies the pain of old wounds and a fear that he will fail his friends when they need him most”, while medic Mel finds herself "challenged by the realities of war and tribalism".
Nora will struggle to “come to terms with the sins of her past”, with Owen’s description adding that he’s "condemned to fight an enemy he refuses to hate". There’s nothing too revolutionary to take from Manny, Mel, and Owen’s descriptions. Given that we don’t know anything about Nora’s backstory though, there’s clearly something interesting that’s going to play out there - unless it’s referring to the Joel incident, but it doesn’t seem that way.
I cannot wait for season two to land. Unfortunately we will have to sit tight until 2025.
