Harry Potter’s HBO reboot has apparently found an actor for Hagrid and it’s who we’ve all been hoping for.
There’ve been some great casting choices so far, like John Lithgow in the vital role of Albus Dumbledore, and Paapa Essiedu as Snape, but we’re nowhere near a full cast at the time of writing.
We don’t even know who’ll be playing our main character in this bold, new reboot
What we do know now though thanks to Deadline is that comedy actor Nick Frost who many will know from Spaced, Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz is indeed in talks to play Hagrid in the new series.

It’s a great choice, as Hagrid is a fun, silly character that acts as a bit of a mentor to Harry as well as an all-around chill guy, so Nick Frost would be perfect for that role.
It hasn’t been confirmed just yet but it sounds like it’s going to happen, and considering he’s been fancasted for the role by so many Harry Potter fans it feels like a no-brainer to get him in the series.
As for other characters like Harry Potter himself, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley we’re no closer to finding out who’s in the running, but since the trio will be children in the first series some fresh-faced new talent will likely be selected.
Personally I’m interested to see what’s done with Voldemort, as he changes forms so frequently from book to book you could definitely have multiple actors take on the role if you wanted.

HBO’s Harry Potter reboot series doesn’t currently have a premiere date, or premiere window for matter, and with filming presumably not scheduled for some time there’s plenty of time left to talk about casting, story details, and how the streaming network is going to pull the whole thing off…
