With filming for the HBO Harry Potter reboot expected to begin this summer, rumours are still swirling surrounding the anticipated cast.
It has been almost two years since the HBO Harry Potter reboot was first announced and we are finally on the homestretch, with filming expected to kick off in just a few months.

Despite this, there has been no official casting confirmations even though its showrunner, Succession’s Francesca Gardiner, previously revealed that over 32,000 young actors had auditioned for some of the lead roles.

I say young because HBO’s Harry Potter is expected to stick much closer to the books by making the main cast a lot closer to their canonical ages.
For example, Snape will be in his 30s whilst James and Lily Potter will be in their 20s, unlike the much-loved movie series which aged up the cast quite significantly.
That is why the latest rumoured actor is hardly surprising.
Taking on the role of Harry’s morally ambiguous aunt Petunia is reportedly none other than Phoebe Waller-Bridge, according to a recent rumour.

Best known for writing Fleabag, Killing Eve and No Time to Die, Waller-Bridge has also starred on the big screen for roles in Solo: A Star Wars Story and Fleabag.
This news comes courtesy of insider Daniel Richtman who shared the information on his Patreon account.
In the movies, Petunia Dursley was played by the great Fiona Shaw who first starred in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone at the age of 43.
In comparison, Waller-Bridge is turning 40 this summer so there is not much difference at all despite some fans questioning the age difference.

If this latest rumour is true, Waller-Bridge will be joining the likes of Paapa Essiedu as Snape, Mark Strong or Mark Rylance as Dumbledore, Sharon Horgan or Rachel Weisz as McGonagall, and Brett Goldstein as Hagrid.
However, with none of these actors having been confirmed as of yet, it is worth taking this all with a pinch of salt.
